Edelweiss Village New Memory Care Apartments Living Area

Edelweiss Village Opens New Assisted Living Memory Care Apartments

July 17, 2024

Edelweiss Village, the premier assisted living community on the German Centre campus, is pleased to announce the opening of its new memory care neighborhood, including ten private apartments and two companion suites, where residents will receive compassionate care in a comfortable home-like setting.

“We are excited to offer memory care apartments on our campus,” said Babacar Diop, CEO of Deutsches Altenheim. “Our goal is to provide residents living with Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia the opportunity to thrive in a supportive environment that promotes independence.”

Utilizing a person-centric approach, our innovative memory support programming focuses on the strengths and needs of the individual. “We celebrate the unique essence and complexity of each resident, honoring their journey with dignity, respect, and unwavering support,” explained Diop. “Above all, our philosophy is rooted in empathy and compassion.”

Designed by applied Form+Space and built by Aberthaw Construction Inc., these highly anticipated residences incorporate pleasing colors, an abundance of natural light, and a secure yet welcoming environment. Edelweiss Village, located on a beautifully landscaped 14-acre West Roxbury campus, also offers 46 studio, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom assisted living apartments.

For an introduction to our exceptional memory care services, Edelweiss Village will host a “Memory Café” on the third Saturday of each month from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. These social gatherings will enable individuals with memory loss and their caregivers to come together in a safe, supportive environment. Attendees will share conversation over light refreshments and have the option to participate in fun, engaging activities within a group setting. All guests must be accompanied by a caregiver.

Edelweiss Village is conveniently located at 2220 Centre Street in West Roxbury. For more information on our Memory Café or to schedule a tour, please contact Sheila Connell at sconnell@germancentre.org or call 781-363-5670.
