Activity Assistant – Memory Care

Chelsea Jewish Lifecare is a residential and post-acute care provider that consistently delivers high-quality, compassionate care, while focusing on the development of innovative programs and services that enable individuals to live as independently as possible. We are currently seeking an Activities Assistant to join the Resident Life team at the Harriet and Ralph Kaplan Estates in Peabody, MA.

Position Summary

The Activity Assistant will be involved in the development and implementation of a social and recreational program for residents in our memory care community. Activities include, but are not limited to, the health and wellness, educational/cognitive, creative, sensory motor, and social needs of our residents.

The Activity Assistant position is full-time, for a total of 37.5 hours per week, Sunday through Thursday.

Responsibilities

Under the direction of the Resident Life Director, the Activity Assistant will:

  • Work as part of a team to assist in planning, organizing, and implementing a balanced enrichment program for residents with dementia and Alzheimer’s disease.
  • Engage with residents, encouraging, motivating, and escorting them to and from activities.
  • Use technology to enhance experiences for residents during activities.
  • Complete initial resident engagement surveys.
  • Perform some administrative duties.
  • Provide 1:1 visits with residents who prefer to remain in their apartments.
  • Communicate with families and employees in a professional manner.
  • Drive the community van to and from recreational outings, assisting residents with transfers on and off the van.
  • Complete other tasks as assigned by the Director of Resident Life.

Minimum Requirements

  • Must possess, at a minimum, a high school diploma.
  • Minimum of 1 year experience working in an assisted living or skilled nursing facility.
  • Computer literacy in MS Office Suite, including Word, Publisher, Outlook, and Excel.
  • Must meet company requirements to become an approved driver of our van.
  • The ability to work one day of the weekend.
  • While performing the duties associated with this position, the Activity Assistant is required to stand, walk, stoop, crouch, and lift or carry weight up to 50 pounds.
